The Okanagan Mainline District Council (OMDC) has officially changed its name to the Southern Interior District Council (SIDC).
The Southern Interior District Council of the Canadian Union of Public Employees has been established with the following goals:
- To enhance the social and economic well-being of all its members;
- To promote equality and stand firmly against all forms of harassment and discrimination;
- To support the effectiveness and quality of public services; and
- To uphold the principles of solidarity and the collective strength of organized labour.
Public services are essential. and it’s the people who deliver them that make the difference.
City workers are the backbone of our communities. They maintain our roads, respond to emergencies, ensure our drinking water is safe, connect us to library resources, operate ice rinks, care for our children in daycares, lead community programs — and so much more.
In challenging economic times, affordable and dependable public services are more important than ever.
The Southern Interior District Council represents eighteen CUPE locals across the interior of British Columbia working together to support strong public services and the people who provide them.
